Alexana’s primary focus is producing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from its Revana Estate Vineyard and other premium vineyards with like-minded farming practices throughout the Willamette Valley in Oregon.
At Alexana, we believe that winemaking begins in the vineyard. Our world-class Pinot Noir is a result of farming in a way that respects the land while maintaining the integrity of the varietal and allowing the vineyard to tell its own story of each vintage.
It is this philosophy that leads us to craft wines from a distinct time and place with fruit from both our Estate Vineyard in the Dundee Hills AVA as well as a few of the most respected vineyard sites in the Willamette Valley. Revana Estate Vineyard Overview
The Revana Vineyard is located just 28 miles southwest of Portland, Oregon nestled in the Red Hills of Dundee. This unique appellation is marked by distinct geographic elements that effectively insulate this region from the dramatic weather variations experienced in nearby growing areas. The topography is defined by ridges that run north and south, with small valleys on the east, south, and west sides. Because of the slopes and elevations, vineyards in the Dundee Hills benefit from warmer nights and less frost and fog than the adjacent valley floors. True to the appellation, the 80-acre property possesses an incredibly diverse and complex series of soils and exposures. Located between 320 feet and 650 feet above sea level, the site has 18 soil types spread over a combination of rolling hills, steep slopes, and rugged terrain.
The soils are primarily sedimentary silt and stone and volcanic stone with clay, and the bedrock beneath is predominantly sedimentary and basalt. In 2003, the previous property owner planted 13 acres of Pinot Noir and three acres of Pinot Gris. Over the next five years, Dr. Revana continued to develop another 39 acres, including Chardonnay and additional Pinot Noir vines. To take advantage of the property’s tremendous soil variations, 32 micro blocks were established within the vineyard to pair ideal clonal and rootstock selections with individual soil types. Today, the L.I.V.E. Certified vineyard has grown to over 55 planted acres. Using sustainable farming methods, cover crops provide soil, nutrients, erosion control, and water competition.

The eastern blocks of our Revana Estate Vineyard range from 500 feet to 650 feet in elevation and are composed of various volcanic soils. Sheltered by trees, this section of our property benefits from a cool microclimate allowing the fruit more hang-time and consistently produces wines with an incredibly soft texture and high-tone aromatics.

The middle blocks of our estate vineyard are composed of several unique soils that are a result of a series of landslides over a few thousand years. This section of our estate contains the most geological diversity and results in age-worthy wines that express elegance, structure, and complexity.

Kinney Ranch Vineyard
The newest addition to Alexana's Estate Properties! Kinney Ranch Vineyard is contiguous to our existing Revana Estate Vineyard located at the far northern edge of our famed West Blocks. Dr. Revana purchased this gorgeous 64-acre property in 2019 as prime unplanted vineyard land. We just completed vineyard development with 35.97 acres planted primarily to Pinot Noir with just a tiny bit of Chardonnay and a smidge of Pinot Gris.

Crawford Beck Vineyard
Located in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA, Crawford Beck Vineyard is planted between 350 feet and 525 feet in elevation on soils that are predominantly volcanic in origin. This vineyard source was selected for its like-minded commitment to the highest standards of sustainable farming practices and crafting ultra-premium Pinot Noir.
Sustainable Farming
Farmed completely by hand, we employ a variety of sustainable farming practices in Alexana’s Revana Estate Vineyard to promote soil health, encourage consistent and exceptional grapes, and ensure the longevity of our small vineyard.
Integrated Pest Management
Integrated pest management is a method of sustainable farming that uses an ecosystem-based strategy for the long-term prevention of pests through a combination of habitat manipulation and modified viticulture practices. Bluebird boxes, as well as raptor perches, are positioned throughout the vineyard to encourage natural predators to inhabit our land.
Cover Crops
In between the vine rows, each block of our estate vineyard receives a customized mix of legumes and grasses, selected to meet the specific needs of that section of our vineyard. These cover crops, such as winter rye, vetch, and fava beans, are raised until mid-May when we mow and cultivate them under the soil so they may biodegrade and replenish vital nutrients for our vines.
LIVE Certified
The LIVE acronym stands for Low Input Viticulture Enology and it supports environmentally and socially responsible wine growing through third-party certification and education. Their roots are in the Pacific Northwest and their standard is internationally accredited and recognized.
